He was inspired by old bottles in his collection, which included blended whiskies made just after Prohibition and into the 1950s, where distillers blended 60% fully aged, high-quality whiskies with neutral grain spirit to craft a high-quality whiskey that could hold its own against anything available at the time.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFor Arrow Point, the Master Distiller selected a base of his own six-year-old light whiskey (whiskey aged in a barrel used once before) made from organic soft white wheat to blend with his own multi-award-winning whiskies aged 5+ years made from organic corn, rye, wheat, and barley. More than 20 recipes were trialed, but only one was selected for its balance of fruit, grain, and spice notes, pleasant weight, and measured and balanced wood notes.
